      <image:title>Home - Welcome to my Blog!</image:title>
<image:caption>You are invited to follow the journey! Hopefully this will keep all informed, but feel free to be in touch. All posts are listed in the Archive, and future posts are anticipated every week or two when I’m overseas, or as events develop. Also note the Prayer Items, Somali Christians (from the Archive), and the Glossary pages. You can always access the blog directly, or if you wish to be alerted to new posts, let a note HERE. Most recent posts: May - October, 2023 - (this post, but with a white background is here) Prayer Items - updated October, 2023 My mother’s memoir is available here. On each page there will also be a Scripture and hymn. These are not necessarily synchronized with each page’s content or with each other, but are here for your edification. Welcome, or in Somali, “Soo dhowow!”</image:caption>

<image:caption>A few of the apologetics and a good number of the Islamics texts I’m using for school. … For those of you interested in such things and particular books, enlarge the picture to see specific titles and authors. Recommended titles include Green, Geisler (“Answering Islam”), Shumack, Qureshi, and if you want a real thunderbolt assessment of Islam, the Trifkovic (he takes the “gloves” off … completely!). “Come Let Us Reason” is a bit of an uphill read, but is otherwise a good primer in formal logic. I haven’t read the Bauckham or Bailey, but expect them to be good reads and look forward to them.</image:caption>

This is intended whether there are Muslims in the area or not, and the buildings are meant to be quite substantial and imposing, to make a statement of dominance and superiority. The expectation is that if there is a mosque, and especially a big one, that people will come. (… Any thoughts on this?…?? )</image:caption>

<image:caption>Four young men from church accompanied me back to Ethiopia in January, and helped to bring various supplies along. We had four days of touring before they returned: this is in the crypt of a major Ethiopian Orthodox Church. In front of us is an ornate remembrance of Jesus in the grave, on the far wall are portraits of Emperor Menelik II and his wife and daughter, while the three large marble tombs behind us are their graves. There were many other historical items here, and we were fortunate to get in to the church alone, not to mention the crypt (the church was unlocked just for us).</image:caption>

<image:caption>This plaque is right inside the wrought iron gate of a mosque in the heart of the heavily populated Old City in Jerusalem, where all can easily read it. A core Islamic document from soon after the death of Muhammad, if not canonical, it carries almost the weight of the Qur’an itself. While appearing benign and conciliatory, it is not: the “Jizia” tax permanently subjugates all non-Muslims to Islamic control (including sharia law and jihad against all non-Muslims). While it seems both sides have faults in the current conflagration and we may each make our own judgments about what should be done, until such categorical and authoritative assertions of religious dominance and the sworn purpose of annihilating Jews are removed from Islamic doctrine and thought, a lasting peace will be hard to attain.</image:caption>
